I would like to rename Citi Field to Paulson's Folly

  • [5] Daniel from Brooklyn December 05, 2008 - 10:06AM

    Bob Murphy Stadium

    for two important reasons...

    1) He was a beloved Mets announcer for most of their existence.

    2) Jack Murphy stadium was named for his brother and the name was eventually changed to some corporate name and this deeply saddened Bob Murphy who even expressed these feelings on the air during a game once. This woould be a nice tribute a man loved and listened to by countless Mets fans for over 30 years.

  • [6] Steve McLaughlin from Denville, NJ December 05, 2008 - 10:08AM

How about The Ballpark at Credit Default Swamp?

  • [7] david from princeton, nj December 05, 2008 - 10:09AM

    or just back to Shea??

  • [16] Myriam from Ithaca, NY December 05, 2008 - 10:47AM

"People's Park" sounds about right, since we shoulder all those tax incentives to attract stadium development to cities. We invested and our name should be on it!

Oh, and before I forget, rich people and companies living, working, and making profits in NYC must pay their FAIR SHARE of local taxes. You know, because we have to pay for roads, water, trains, and all those goodies that make business possible.

  • [17] Leo from Queens December 05, 2008 - 10:47AM

    Rubin's Folly

  • [22] Marissa from Manhattan, NY December 05, 2008 - 10:49AM

Rather than Citi - call it National field - the whole country's bailing them out.

  • [23] Michael Hnatov from Brooklyn December 05, 2008 - 10:49AM

    How about Cit_y_ Field?

  • [62] Robert from Manhattan December 05, 2008 - 10:53AM

I love the Bob Murphy idea.

In fact, it was marvelous when the Mets would visit San Diego and Bob's partners followed his lead and refused to say the new name.

One problem with ALL of these corporate names is how often play by play announcers DO tend to say them ... clearly in an effort to kiss the behinds of the moneyed and influential corporate sponsors.

Of course the other obvious suggestion is Jackie Robinson Stadium.

  • [63] Sue from Manhattan December 05, 2008 - 10:53AM

I like The Ballpark @ Credit Default Swamp

  • [64] Rob Foran from Staten Island NYC NY December 05, 2008 - 10:53AM

  • [67] LM from Long Island December 05, 2008 - 10:53AM

Why.. leave it just to the Mets.. why not the Yankees too.. based on the questions around the finacing of th enew Yankee's Stadium.. I would like to suggest City Hall 2
