  Of course Obama supporters are being shy about his chances, they've been here before (twice).

  I just returned from a trip to the UK, everyone there was cautiously optimistic about his win. People were giddy with the possibility but also slightly pessimistic about how Americans finally vote.

  Hasn't the Republican ticket allowed Palin to energize the core "RED" vote states with the 'one of us' issue. She also locks in the anti abortion, gun freedom, and small government groups.

  McCail is then free to be flexible in the swing states to be more attractive to the middle ground voters.

  Very smart strategy. But am I the only one to see the similarity with Buggs Bunny and Elmer Fudd??????

  The GOP is still running the 2008 'Willie Horton' style racist ads, too. Columbia law professor Patricia Williams notes this in a Nation essay.

  Here's what Williams writes:

  "Perhaps the most insidious and ubiquitous propagation of this imagery is the McCain ad that features a scary photo of Franklin Raines, former head of Fannie Mae, the single black head of any organization implicated in this mess. Yet of all the hundreds of CEOs, crooks and swindlers who could be named — from Ken Lay to AIG's Christopher Swift to Jack Abramoff — it is Raines who is used as the Willie Horton-ized whipping boy of civilization's downfall. This is pure manipulation: Raines is not connected in any way to Barack Obama. Yet McCain's campaign director was a top manager at Fannie Mae. If we must look for figureheads, allow me to nominate George Herbert Walker IV, who just happens to be George W. Bush's second cousin. He also happens to be Lehman Brothers' investment management director, who, just before the firm's collapse, dismissed a suggestion from the asset management firm Neuberger Berman that top executives forgo their multimillion-dollar bonuses so as to "send a strong message...that management is not shirking accountability for recent performance." Walker actually apologized that the very notion had been circulated: 'Sorry team. I am not sure what's in the water at Neuberger Berman. I'm embarrassed and I apologize.'"

  why does the media talk about national polls (cause it's easy?) the national poll number has no value.

  we have to look state by state. mccain would have to win all the toss up states. can he? I don't think the numbers are there for grumpy old mccain.

  How is what joe Biden said a gaffe? Can someone explain. Sometimes it seems like the media (WNYC included) wants to be fair. If Sarah Palin doesnt know anything then say it. Stop trying to even the score by reaching for Biden Gaffes.

  BL: "Maybe we'll see some red phone 3am ads." Nice dig on Hillary again, Brian. Why can you not let that go? Now go and ask all the Hillary supporters for money.

  And regarding Biden, why the surprise? Sen. Obama spent a year telling us that anyone who had voted for the Iraq War had poor judgement and should not be president. And Biden voted for it.

  Bloomberg could not have done it with out your help!!!

  It's pretty funny that Sarah Palin prefers the “pro-America” parts of the country considering her sympathetic view of the secessionist Alaskan Independence Party.
