As violence spreads after the collapse of elections in Zimbabwe, many here in New York with roots in the region are getting reports back from their families. We hear from the local community. Also: a Joe Bruno retrospective.
Contribute Your "Grub" Photos!
Coming off the heels of WNYCs Street Shots project, which drew 900+ photographers to participate on WNYC's Flickr page, the Brian Lehrer show wants to collaborate with its photographer-listeners. Contribute your photos to our photo group to participate in covering New York stories and to provide your perspective on the issues.
On Thursday June 26th, we’ll be doing several segments looking at food policy here in New York City, and we want you to participate in the discussion through photography. We’re asking our "Grub" photo group to join the conversation by contributing food-related pictures to the Flickr group. We’ll incorporate the pictures into our discussion, and may even bring a few of you on the air!

Diversità
The July issue of Italian Vogue will solely feature black models, including older models, and plus size models. Impetus for this issue came in part because of the influence of U.S. Politics, and from talks at the New York Public Library. Fashion activist Bethann Hardison and Elite model agent Calvin Wilson talk about the impact of the upcoming issue.
Zimbabwe: Trouble at Home
Ongoing political violence in Zimbabwe has sparked widespread concern both abroad as well as within the U.S. Zimbabwe natives Peter Godwin, author of When a Crocodile Eats the Sun: A Memoir of Africa, and Chaka Ngwenya, director of SARFM Radio in New York, talk about the latest in the Zimbabwe elections.
Driving Renewable Energy
Bob Walsh, president of LS9, talks about their new renewable energy technology that involves bugs producing crude oil. Beyond bugs, Joseph White, senior editor at the Wall Street Journal, and Joseph Romm, senior fellow at the Center for American Progress and former director of the Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in the 1990's, discuss alternatives to oil and the future of renewables.
Joseph Romm's blog, "Climate Progress"
Joseph White's online column, "Eyes on the Road"
