    The actual name of the Democratic (sic) party is: Democrat National Party- which is curious inasmuch as it isn't very 'democratic' at all

    vis-á-vis the back-room (smoke-filled room) euphemistically referred to as the: 'super-delegates'.

    What a joke... and it would actually be funny if the 'joke' wasn't on America!

    However- not to worry... Senator John McCain will be elected President in November! The American Public (read: 'The Silent Majority!) is not going to elect a ½-term senator- much less, hire his terminally irascible wife as 'First-Lady'! (Perhaps she and 'Ter-reza' Kerry will campaign together for O-Ba-Ma, and cinch the national election for Senator McCain!) Oh-Yeah!

    Going one better-> Perhaps the DNP can hire Ms. Sharon Stone as their branded spokesperson for O-Ba-Ma- that only, of course, if Scott McClellan is not available. These TWO have absolutely NOTHING to say- but that fact doesn't deter them from saying it anyway! And the DNP actually LIKES the 'say nothing' approach to political campaigning... opting for feel-good platitudes rather than anyting substantive in their stump speeches!

    So again, not to worry: to paraphrase Tom Cruise's character in 'A Few Good Men':

    "(They're) gonna loose- and (they're) gonna loose huge"!

    Oh, it's Rob "Two Wrongs Make a Right" Andrews. With his attack ads attacking Lautenberg's attack ads, and criticizing Lautenberg for criticizing a candidate's age while criticizing Lautenberg's age.

  • [3] Peter from Brooklyn May 29, 2008 - 10:37AM

    Im from across the river, but what are the policy diferences Between Rep. Andrews and Sen.Lautenberg? All i see on TV is Andrews talking about Sen Lautenberg's age. granted , im not from NJ so i dont get a whole picture.

    If NJ is in play in November, would Rep Andrews hold NJ senate for the Dems?

  • [4] Peter from Brooklyn May 29, 2008 - 10:38AM

    I ment NJ US Senate Seant , not NJ senate

  • [5] NJ Independent from Metuchen, NJ May 29, 2008 - 10:38AM

    As an independent who has traditionally voted Democratic, I have always held my nose when I voted for Lautenberg, in part because of the campaign he ran against Millicent Fenwick. Quid pro quo...I'm voting for Andrews.

  • [6] RJ from Brooklyn May 29, 2008 - 10:41AM

    Given that their positions by his own admission are not significantly different, to waste Dem party resources on a primary in this critical year verges on the criminal.

    is Lautenberg a bad senator?

    if not keep him.

    this guy sounds right wing, worring about flag burning is that a pressing issue??

  • [8] Peter from Brooklyn May 29, 2008 - 10:42AM

    Flag burning as a hate crime? did i just hear that? please go into detail on this. That is a crazy thing to say.

  • [9] hjs from 11211 May 29, 2008 - 10:43AM

    but 80 is the new 60

  • [10] Prof. Christopher Reiss from China May 29, 2008 - 10:43AM

    Has not the standard evolved over time; especially in the last 26 years?

  • [11] Chris O from New York City May 29, 2008 - 10:43AM

    I do think Lautenberg is too old. It is not so much that he is too old but he has had 4 terms, he retired 8 years ago, then was yanked out of retirement due to some Democratic candidate scandal. He got his extra term, he should step aside.

  • [12] bib birtha from nyc May 29, 2008 - 10:45AM

    what's the freak factor, i mean, whose likely to turn out to be freak once in office?

  • [13] hjs from 11211 May 29, 2008 - 10:46AM

    peter

    yes Andrews said that. i wonder if he wants other hate crimes also to be written into the constitution? mabye that would be a good thing?

  • [14] mc from Brooklyn May 29, 2008 - 10:46AM

    This guy may be a Clinton superdelegate but it sounds like he's trying to fly in on the Obama "change" coattails. His health care proposal sucks, it would be bankrupt in five minutes. That said, Lautenberg should be making a better case for himself. Not that my opinion matters, I live in NY.

  • [15] Peter from Brooklyn May 29, 2008 - 10:48AM

    HJS,

    Let me get this , he is against the first amendment and pro thought policing - costituionally?

    Go Lautenberg!!

  • [16] Dave from Morris County, NJ May 29, 2008 - 10:53AM

    How can Congressman Andrews say he's not aware of any issues over his campaign ad against Sen. Lautenberg's age? I contacted his campaign personally to register my disgust. He talks about change, but he's just more of the same. So my choice is between a Senator who's running and has been in office for 25 years, but not doing anything to attract people, a congressman who promises change, but shows us nothing different, and a mayor who wants to deputize the police to get rid of the day laborers that do the work that no one else wants to do... It's tough to be a NJ Democrat...

    Regarding McCain's bid for the presidency: for the last few years I've been very aware of the appearances of each president as he enters office and how he looks at the end of his term. They look so much older, haggard, and very gray. I can't image how McCain will look at the end of 4 years, much less 8!! It's scary.

  • [18] Jesse Califano from Tampa, FL May 29, 2008 - 10:55AM

    How about different levels of 'Hate Crime'- like: 'Distasteful-Crimes';

    and then the lesser: 'Don't-Like' Crimes;

    and then the even lesser: 'Not-Nice Crimes';

    and then the most diminutive: 'Talking-Loud-In-Church Crimes'- the penalty for which would be saying 3-our fathers & 3 hail marys!!

    I also think it should be a crime just lighting a match within three feet of an American flag- because this shows INTENT- it's called first-degree 'almost-flag-burning!!

  • [19] Norman Douglas from Milford, CT May 29, 2008 - 10:56AM

    I heard your Andrews interview.I hope that you will devote some time in the future to the age of John McCain. He is older than Regan was when he ran, and Regan was stumbling around the White House in a fog of dementia while his wife, her astrologist and some unelected handlers ran the country. We can't afford to take this chance with McCain.He will be 82 at the end of 2 terms. Lest you think this is an agist comment, I am a septegenarian.

  • [20] hjs from 11211 May 29, 2008 - 11:00AM

    so the question should be how old is too old??

  • [21] Peter from Brooklyn May 29, 2008 - 11:16AM

    Is Lautenberg the oldest, non KKK afilliated, seantor serving?

  • [22] raymond forsch May 29, 2008 - 11:50AM

    Haven't listened to the program yet, but I intend too. Lautenberg's office does not even have the courtesy to write back to constituents that contact him on issues. Even though I hate his guts, I will at least give Menendez credit, He always sends back a form letter - "Thank you for contacting me yadda yadda yadda, your opinion matters to us yadda yadda yadda."

    The problem we have in New Jersey is we are too solidly a blue state. Democrats take us for granted and Republicans don't even try. Let the politicians know that NJ is a purple state, and they have to work for our vote. Bye, bye Frank!
