The mayor never supported these officers nor took responsibility for his men's actions, and therefore these officer's careers are over. They will become the political football every police officer becomes when the mayor, in order to avoid controversy, hangs them out to dry. Bloomberg is no Giuliani, who at least had the courage to take his share of the blame.

These guys screwed up and are lucky they're not in jail. I'm sure if they had forced to take breathalyzer at the scene they would be.

I'm no big fan of the police--and I don't say that proudly--but the salaries they receive explains the poor quality of cop we get. It's disgraceful that they get the low salary they do for the dangerous work they perform and not you mention only 2 weeks vacation!!! Are you kidding me! It would take at least that amount of time to begin to relax after the stress of police work. They deserve at least 4 to 6 weeks. As I say my experiences have mostly bad ones with police but I think that's not the majority. They deserve better than that.
