Poet-In-Residence: Hour Two

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

To celebrate National Poetry Month, spoken word artist Roland Legiardi-Laura joins us in the studio to poet-ize throughout the show. Plus, we'll hear from listeners who answered our challenge to versify about their favorite show segments. Join in by sending your poem to brianlehrershow@wnyc.org, and start each poem with the words “I heard.”

Nuyorican Poets Café celebrates its 35th anniversary!

I heard an angel singing to me about you.

I close my eyes and see you.

You invade my every dream every night,

even though you are so far away and I haven't seen you in so long.

You have invaded my heart and mind.

you will always be the love of my heart.

As, I dream tonight, the angel will sing to me of you and the love I knew with you that was the purest thing in my life.

    Forever and always.

    I love poetry.

    Anyone know:

    What makes a good poem?

    Dear Commenters,

First, thanks for all your supportive comments

Second--Kai-OS -- I did feel like it was good hard work.. But the folks at the BL show were working about as hard as I have ever seen a team of folks work...If only the rest of the world could be as efficient, supportive and good natured...

Megan, Don't believe anyone who tells you they know what makes a good poem! You'll know it when you hear it or read it.

    Thanks again,

    Roland
