Why haven't we heard more about "Winter Soldier" that took place over the past four days in D.C.?

Real men don't pull out. As George Carlin said on one of his classic albums of the 1970s, with regard to "pulling out" of Vietnam:

"Pull out? Doesn't sound manly to me, Bob! I say keep it in there, let's get the job done!"

Thank you Jen, I wrote CNN to notify them that they missed this story this morning after seeing the coverage on Winter Soldier on Democracy Now. There Amy Goodman mentioned that the "corporate media" had not been present to cover the Soldiers. I fear that Public Radio is becoming more and more "corporate". Just take note of Inskeep's views on Morning Edition lately.

So, where is the coverage of Winter Soldier?

FIASCO - by all accounts, including the top military leadership, this war is in vain.

Our goal (Bush's and Gates and Petraeus' that is) now is an Iraq that is secure and can govern itself and is not a base for al-Qaeda type operatives. Well, that's what we had BEFORE the war. Except, Saddam was an enemy of Iran and now our puppet regime is ironically very close to Iran.

Iran won the war, we can not even break even. George Bush may be an Iranian agent, or agent of another hostile power considering the grave harm he has done to this country militarily and economically.

I'm not sure how a surge can be seen as a success. If you put cops on every corner you will surely lower crime in the short term but it does nothing to resolve the bigger issues and once the cops leave crime will return.

Jill- is that a joke? I remember before the Gulf War in 1991 one of the chants at teh DC protest was - "george pull out- we wish your father had", some obviously goes for this Bush and his father etc. (we should have never been in Vietnam or Iraq, of course).

the media easily bought into the idea that the "surge is working" (what a shock!), and the dems largely stayed silent....the politics of the country haven't improved much and the government is very corrupt.

You want to get the job "done" then go over there and do it.

It is your thinking that is the problem.

It is your thinking that has resulted in over a million Iraqis DEAD.

It is your thinking that will cost this country over 3,000 american soldiers dead.

It is your thinking that will cost the American Tax payer 3 Trillion dollars.

It is your thinking that will make the world more unsafe.

It is your thinking which brings disgrace the the American reputation what is left.

Viet Nam was a mistake from day 1.

Pulling out is the only answer.

Excuse me, Michael Winslow, I was merely quoting Carlin who was mocking. It's not my thinking at all and I am in full support of getting every last one of our men and women out of there.

McCain said that and he's running for President!!! These guys are "in-bed-with" reporters, they sound too much like the administration. Couldn't you find others?

How come President of Iran can visit Iraq in a pre-announced visit, no problem, and our leaders are always making "surprise" and "unannounced" visits? Who is really winning this war?

How is McCain paying for his Iraq visit? Are the american taxpayers paying for it or is his campaign? And if it is an official visit why arent there other congressional members?

This may sound cynical, but I suspect Cheney is checking on his investments--Halliburton, etc. and what is going on on the ground. McCain is probably getting an update as far as the big investments that many of the corporations that the officials of this administration are involved in. Why don't the American people understand that these guys are fleecing us. They started war for profit! American troops are just low paid security guards for Halliburton, Exxon Mobil, etc. etc.

I just heard one of the commentators say, regarding Mr. McCain that he, as others' main concern is making sure Irag does not become an Al Qaida permanent place.

I find this statement and this line of thought to be just another excuse to be in a 'war' there, as there is a very very large area called the Middle East where they can and do operate, and certainly one of Al Qaida's key strengths is that it does not have an address.

" Defeat" is a new book by British Journalist Jonathan Steele. I recommend the book to all who are fed up with Bush- Cheney-Petraeus propaganda machine

Side note: Shouldn't it be 1825 days, since this year was a leap year, so was 2004?
