I had a friend, whose mother, a first-generation Greek-American, went "home" to Greece to find a husband. She was successful. So my friend (a second-generation Greek-American), after despairing of finding a man here that had the same "values" as she did, decided to make the pilgrimage back to Greece in the hopes of doing as her mother did.
Unfortunately, what she didn't realize was that the thing that kept her from establishing a relationship with a man here was exactly the same thing keeping her from establishing one with a man in Greece: her own relationship issues. She returned to NYC from Greece without a husband. She still has no husband. She still thinks she's been dealt a bad hand somehow, and probably still thinks she has yet to meet a man with her same "values."
The moral of the story is? Guess.
