It's that repetition of the phrase "ready from day one" (and the hubris it reveals) that keep me from even considering supporting Senator Clinton. I was really beginning to feel for her through that emotional break, until she got back to her condescending talking points at the very end...
Amid all the talk about change - what is it?; who can do it?; how do you do it? - I haven't heard anyone - not Brian or other pundits nor any candidate - talk about Congress. If the next president does not win by the kind of landslide that brings substantial majorities in both houses there will be no change. If independent voters let their independence mean that they take a chance in their vote for president and (once again) hedge by voting for their beloved conservative congressman or senator, there will be no change.
I am a democrat that favors the realistic views and charisma of John Edwards, but all the fight in the world will not mean a thing if he can't muster 60 votes in the Senate. My idea of bipartisanship is to hold veto-proof majorities and then have the statesmanship to treat the opposition with respect and make some acceptable compromise because you can -not becuae you have to.
