  Brian, I think it is unfair that the media (INCLUDING YOUR PROGRAM and WNYC) on the 'troopergate' scandal While ignoring all of the politicial accomplishments, and more IMPORTANTLY the initiatives that are not getting passed. This includes financing and conflict of interest of politicians in Albany which is in DESPERATE need of some reform.

  The bias also comes through in the when you refer to Trooper Gate you conveniently do not mention that Bruno has been using taxpayer monies and resources to campaign and to meet with his business associates and that Bruno is being investigated by the Feds for corruption! - That is MUCH MORE IMPORTANT then whether the governor asked the state troopers to snitch on a corrupt politician

  Well, Bruno is the one who keeps this story going. The man is one of the most corrupt in the state and keeps most important legislation from getting passed. Joe Bruno deflects his corrupt dealings by harping on this barely non-issue that supposed to make him appear as a victim. LOL, Bruno, a victim, LOL. The real victim here is the Governor.

  I don't know why cutting one of the most progressive taxes available (property tax) is an improvement. We all have to pay for the functions of government one way or another, and if it's not on the real estate of the rich it's on the sales and income of the middle class and poor. Cut sales and income taxes instead! They are the most regressive.

  When is soemone going to do some real investigative work on Sheldon Silver? He has as much to gain by keeping the status quo as Bruno. Together they have prevented any reform in NYS government. Silver opposes anything proposed that doesn't feather his nest. How can you write off Spitzer's entire tenure as governor when most of it hasn't happened yet? Now we've entered the realm of killing the future as well as the present and interminable ruminating about the past. Great job everyone.

  Spitzer always went for high-profile investigations as a prosecutor. I believe he genuinely thought he could prosecute Bruno but miscalculated the political might of this pol. The politics of the moment require Bruno and accolites make the most of this situation. The governor is REALLY getting a bum rap on this one. He apologized in order to move on but I believe he was right on track with this investigation. Politics as usual.

  Help elect democratic state legislatures, and help control the redistricting process (gerrymandering) in 2010. The whole country would run better, not just New York. Al Gore would have been president in 2000 if Dems had controlled more state legislatures!

  I think what has happened to Gov. Spitzer is all too common. We people elect these people because we agree with their ideas and like their records for getting things done. Then they get into office and the political machine says "Oh no you don't!" (insert wagging finger icon here) and things grind to a halt and nothing ever gets done.

  The media keeps insane things like troopergate going in their own intrest of selling papers (or air time) and most people are just too darn lazy to read about more important issues and learn about what's really happening in Albany.

  This entire discussion is absurd. Didn't we learn anything from Clinton's impeachment???? People kept saying, "If only he would answer this one question." One question just leads to another. And further more, there is no such thing as one simple, obvious, defnitive response that would make everyone satisfied. This is a total red herring.

  I agree with Wayne Barrett that this whole thing is blown WAY out of proportion. obviously the Post is politically driven, but the rest of the media just loves scandal- but this ain't much of a scandal.

  what's funny is that what passes for the 'media' in NY state - Including WNYC - is dedicating so much time and attaching so much importance to this 'scandal' while there is no mention of Pataki - This guy raped the state budget and underfunded public education and transportation and left us with a HUGE debt while he lined his pockets (becoming a multi millionaire) thanks to the connections made as governor .- NOT ONE PEEP out the New York Media - Welcome to Democracy - THIRD WORLD STYLE!!
