I would ask Bush about the oil in Iran. Also why do we care so much about Israel's security and care nothing about security elsewhere in the world.
Remember Ahmadinejad is NOT the leader of Iran!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"care nothing about security elsewhere in the world"
what facts do you base that bizarre assertion on?
"what facts do you base that bizarre assertion on?"
North Korea, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan to name a few.
Why not question the sanity of George Bush or Olmert while your at it Brian?
Israel just asserted that Iran had started back up again.
I guess it could all be true.
Iran will eventually get there.
Nuclear deterrence works.
and Israel, have the bomb? it is danger that?
"Nuclear deterrence works."
Yes look at glorious Iran, North Korea and Pakistan. Fab.
"Israel just asserted that Iran had started back up again."
Israel is always right we should ALWAYS trust Israel, right on Iraq right on everything.
I just don't understand why Iran and why now? How come Bush didn't know about North Korea, why on his watch?
Why North Korea??
Is he crazy? Let's test his sanity.
The fact that Iran VIOLATED the Nuclear NonProliferation treaty, that they signed, by having an undisclosed illicit nuclear bomb program, even if it was suspended in 2003, makes it open to UN sanctions. It is ILLEGAL not to disclose any nuclear activity to the IAEA if you are a signatory to the NPT. So the president is correct.
Let test your sanity
is Bush the lesser sane??
I agree with Baer, and so would Eric Arthur Blair.
"The fact that Iran VIOLATED the Nuclear NonProliferation treaty, that they signed, by having an undisclosed illicit nuclear bomb program, even if it was suspended in 2003, makes it open to UN sanctions. It is ILLEGAL not to disclose any nuclear activity to the IAEA if you are a signatory to the NPT. So the president is correct."
Does that give us a right to bomb them? What about North Korea???
It makes no sense. It seems to me this was released so it does not come out later when this is supposed to go down.
I love that he says the intelligence was wrong, but now it is right though he doesn't believe it.
Iran is most certainly going for the Bomb.
They may take their time in fits and starts but it will happen.
The US needs to engage diplomatically with Iran.
They are a regional pillar and there is no way around it.
We cant bomb, we shouldn't bomb.
Man I hope we don't bomb.
Breaking>>>>>News>>
Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that Iran was continuing in its efforts to produce a nuclear bomb despite the report. According to the minister, Iran had indeed stopped its program four years ago but has since renewed it.
Well Israel wants us to bomb. Bombing would be a horrific thing for Israel but well... it's what their leadership and neocons want.
Talk about clandestinely or covert actions from Iran, what about Israel BOMBING Syria last month.
I have a feeling that this is just some kind of Rovian work to confuse people and give the media a new spin.
It is sad how Brian follows lock-step with the mainstream media.
I love that now Iran can't develop nuclear energy. Like block them from everything. Pakistan and North Korea can have weapons though.
Why does Brian keep on about Ahmadinejad being crazy and doing crazy things when he is powerless. In fact unpopular in his position.
Is Brian a mouth piece for AIPAC? Why always go right to Ahmadinejad? Why? Do you even know the leader of Iran?
Just because Israel says something it doesn't mean the rest of the world believes it.
When will people realize that oil is at the center of this for the US. Oil.
It seems to me that a key question is always bypassed, and that is: when and to whom has this nation declared war?
Just calling the legitimate attempts by our government to protect the country and its citizens from terrorist attacks WAR ON TERROR, does not make it a war like WWI, WWII, The Revolutionary War, or even The Civil War. The prisoners at Guantanamo may actually not be protected by the Geneva convention, but like anybody, even the two men that blew up a building in U.S. territory, as was the case not that long ago in Iowa (?), should be protected by the right to Habeas Corpus as they were. Whoever has been taken to Guantanamo, is not as a prisoner of war, since no war has been declared; "war on terror" is an abstract concept, not a declaration of war against any other country.
Chad -- are you a mouthpiece for Iran?
And when did Barak or "Israel" "say" they want to bomb Iran?
Do you even know Barak?
Any quotes or legitimate references to such statements from non-Islamic Nation of Iran state propoganda organs would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Allison,
Of couse I know Barak, and I happen to read Israeli newspapers daily.
Israel leadership and AIPAC has supported a bombing in Iran for years now. You can read it daily in our papers and theirs. Joe Lieberman is one of the biggest advocates here.
Now I'm not a mouth piece for Iran, but I happen to know what some other people in this world think about the US and it's view on Iran.
This is the SAME BS that was used against Iraq.
Show me one, not two, just one quote where any Israeli public official, AIPAC spokesperson or Joe Lieberman said we should bomb Iran?
Otherwise, you're just a mouthpiece for Iran....smearing others with inuendo and lies.
Here's what I found on Joe Lieberman:
The Senator said he was not calling for an end to the limited diplomatic efforts that are underway between Washington and Tehran.
"We can tell them we want them to stop that, but if there's any hope of the Iranians living according to the international rule of law and stopping, for instance, their nuclear weapons development, we can't just talk to them," Lieberman said. "If they don't play by the rules, we've got to use our force, and to me that would include taking military action to stop them from doing what they're doing."
Which American politician believes that military force should NEVER be on the table?
From Asia Times:
"Sanctions must be strong enough to bring about change in the Iranians by the end of 2007," Mofaz reportedly told Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. According to Channel 2 News in Israel, Mofaz went on to declare to Rice that Israel will bomb Iran's nuclear facilities by year's end if diplomacy and sanctions fail to persuade Tehran to suspend its uranium-enrichment activities."

If our policy is now to NEVER bomb any country that violates the Nuclear Non_Proliferation Treaty, then what is to stop any or every country from violating it? What is the penalty? We can't place sanctions, and we can't bomb, so what can we do to stop everyone who signed the treaty from acquiring them?
So, what is to stop Cuba, or Venezuela, not to mention Mexico, or EGypt, or Syria or anyone from getting the bomb? So what are these treaties worth - nothing? When Hitler tore up the Versailles treaty in 1934, and no one stopped him, we got WWII. Someone has to lay down the law.

Ban them completely.
"Ban them completely?"
Okay, let the US go first and see if everyone else follows. Since the US was the first to have them, and the first to drop them, then let it be the first to ban them.
Let's see if Iran bans them, then we'll ban them.
