I am a Louisiana ex-pat living, working, and going to school in New York. This article from the WSJ was passed on to me last week and I feel that it genuinely reflects a new attitude of a seemingly tired louisiana.

Ps- we now have Hindu Catholic Republican.

I grew up in Georgia, and was raised a hard-core Democrat. My tri-state friends were shocked to discover this - as I was shocked to find that they were Republicans. Over time, I've come to understand that they and I are moderates. In the South, the Republican party is more extreme and the Democtratic party is more centrist. Up North, the reverse is true. I wonder if that is effecting how the Democtratic candidates are playing in SC. Clinton seems more moderate to me than Obama - but that's just an early impression.
