Dick's $2 JFK solution.
If you take the A to Lefferts Blvd., you can transfer free to the Q10 bus which loops through the airport.
Always allow enough time and travel light!

It's accurate within a minute or two most of the time. Hard to believe, but true.
Regional Government officials are horrible in encouraging people to use mass transit. For example, I find it really offensive that they make it so difficult for people taking NJTransit from and to Newark Airport. Specially for foreigners who are using the system for the first time. It seems that users are discouraged from using the system again- The announcers don't clearly enounciate the names so that people know between Newark and Newark Airport. Announcers don't make a distinction between Penn Station Newark and Penn Station NY -
How come the city has not provided better transit options to LaGuardia?
An important caveat about the M60 bus: it crosses town on 125th street, and very often it takes a long, long time. Commercial traffic on 125th can be slower than walking. If I'm in a hurry, I tend to take another route (the M7 from the west side) to 125th further east. You can save 45 minutes of sitting still on 125th St.
Getting around town by bike is really great. It's amazing. Once you start doing it, it's really hard to go back to any other form of transport for daily commuting and running errands.
