Last week I tried to get seats for Cyrano and the scalpers ("legit" online ticket sellers and re-sellers) were getting to 300-500 a seat! If there were a way to crack down and end scalping and even a quarter of that money was available to the cast crew and producers NY theatre could be much healthier

    hmmm.

sounds like the producers are trying to have things both ways and it could come back to bite them.

IIRC producers tend to press for more flexible work rules and more interdepartmental cooperation.

load-ins and load-outs present opportunities for interdepartmental cooperation, though it may be discrete. a change in compensation arrangements could undermine this requiring larger crews in each department or longer completion times and overall costs that are higher rather than lower.

[note that my experience with this sort of thing was in an industry with similar issues, but not this industry.]
