Following Up: I'm a Gay Iranian

Friday, September 28, 2007

This Monday President Ahmedinejad stated that there were no homosexuals in Iran, Arsham Parsi would beg to differ. He is the executive director of the Iranian Queer Organization (IRQO) and is originally from Iran. He had to flee Iran in 2001 because of his activism surrounding homosexuality.

I had a friend (he died in 1988) who was born in Iran but went to high school in Britain then moved here to US because not only was he under threat of execution for being gay but was totally deserted by his family who wanted to have nothing to do with him. The only exceptions were two female cousins with whom he communicated over the years until his death. The family was asked if they wanted his remains after he died and they rejected them. It's horrible there for homosexuals but that they do not exist? LOL nervously. There are many Iranian Gays here in the US and everywhere else, just like the rest of us.

    Brian,

Where were you two years ago when those two boys were hung in Iran?

Why are you beating the drum to war with Iran? What about GAYS IN IRAQ? Haiti? Saudi Arabia?

Iran has the highest sex changes in the middle east so it's not like everything there is condemed.

Wake up and realize that it is NOT in the best interest of Americans, Iranians or Israelis to be war-mongering like this. It is disturbing. If you really cared about human rights you would have covered this years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Knowing how carefully Ahmedinejad chooses his words and how evasive he is in answering certain questions directly (much like any politician -- Clinton, Bush, etc.), his statement could be interpreted in any number of ways: e.g. not in kind (open) or in numbers as in the U.S.
