The second caller (the man in Harlem) is dead on.
Republicans showing their true colors-- noninclusive, racist, probusiness, antidemocracy.
As an additional name of someone worth considering for moderating the debates, I would nominate NY1's own Dominic Carter. He does a great job locally, and I think he would do an excellent job nationally!
Oh please! It only illustrates the blatant racism of the Republican party. I wonder how, considering your caller's last comments about Katrina and how it will send the message that they just don't care about African-American voters...she STILL calls herself a republican? AND will vote republican???? Disgusting.
And for shame Brian, it has come out many many many times that the crime rate started declining under DINKINS and that during Ghouliani's reign crime went down NATIONWIDE!!!! Stop repeating Ghouliani's blatant lying. He overstates his hand in that just as he exploits 9/11 for doing nothing more than putting himself in front of a camera and building a bunker in the wrong place against everyone telling him NOT to put it there and not getting the firefighters the proper equipment, etc, etc
Ghouliani is a LIAR, plain and simple.
It's not surprising that the Republicans would not care about african-american concerns considering that they often try to court the most racist sectors of our society. Let's be real!
and as for your current caller- READ something sometime..stop watching FOX...the crime rate started going down under DINKINS..FACT! Yeah I agree...give credit where it's due...it wasn't all Ghouliani. And you were offended by a caller stating the FACTS??? I'm insulted by you calling yourself a black republican. THAT is offensive.
Are we surprised? I think not. Republicans don't care about blacks and we are not surprised at all. I'd rather die than vote for Guliani. I was a New Yorker when he came to office..I remember the 30th precinct scandal..all encouraged by Guiliani's lax supervision. I also recall the Fire Dept vs Police Dept Turf battles that ultimately resulted in the lack of communications coordination on 9/11...actively encouraged by Guiliani.
This country needs a uniting force...not a dividing force like Guiliani.
I was disappointed to hear Brian equate a refusal to appear in a debate on Fox with a refusal to appear in a debate on PBS, moderated by Tavis Smiley. Fox routinely engages in mockery of Democrats, not to mention smear campaigns and outright lies. They will edit a Democrat's words to suit their own purposes, and then cut away from a speech in order to vilify the candidate. I cannot imagine Tavis Smiley or PBS engaging in or sanctioning such behavior. Whatever Smiley's political persuasion, he has journalistic integrity. Fox has none. Please don't reinforce this false equivalence.
