My friend's grandmother in Evansville Indiana (who's European ancestors arrived in Southern Indiana generations ago, and who has probably never met a Dominican in her life) makes an incredible BBQ with Coke and Catsup, and apparently the recipe has been in the family as long as anyone can remember. It's really delicious, and tastes nothing like what the title might suggest.
I'm Australian and I moved to the United States in early 2001. The food I ate did not change much (except less vegemite) but the calorie content of American food is much higher-not to mention the portion size.
Surprisingly, no one has mentioned Asian food! Since moving to Queens, Korean and Thai food has become more of a staple in my diet.
