Monday, September 10, 2007

Why is the latest presidential debate different from all the others? It’s being broadcast only in Spanish, with English subtitles. El Diario-La Prensa’s Alberto Vourvoulias-Bush discusses the importance of the Latino vote in both parties’ primaries and how the Democrats did at the Univision debate. Also, how $9.0 Billion went missing in Iraq; taking fashion seriously; and one father tries to answer all his young son’s questions.

Pura Politica

On Sunday night Univision hosted the very first Spanish language Presidential forum. Alberto Vourvoulias-Bush, executive editor of El Diario-La Prensa, analyzes the candidates' performances and their language skills. Then Michael Duffy, reporter for Time Magazine, previews today's Petraeus report to the House of Representatives.

Fashion, Seriously

George Simonton, professor of fashion at the Fashion Institute of Technology (SUNY) and a clothing designer, makes the case for the importance of fashion.

Accounting for Iraq

From April 2003 to June 2004 $12 billion was dispensed to Iraq. Donald L. Barlett and James B. Steele, contributing editors for Vanity Fair tried to investigate how $9 billion of those dollars disappeared.

Font of Wisdom

Wendell Jamieson, city editor for The New York Times and the author of Father Knows Less or "Can I Cook My Sister?": One Dad's Quest to Answer His Son's Most Baffling Questions (G.P. Putnam's Sons, 2007), talks about answering kids' questions, from the whimsical to the more serious.

Father Knows Less is available for purchase at Amazon.com.
