Meanwhile the Daily News has investigated whether math scores have actually gone up, or if the tests difficulty has gone down. Erin Einhorn, staff reporter for the New York Daily News and Diane Ravitch, professor of Education at New York University discuss the issues facing New York City schools.

    I'll tell you what'll bring test scores and academic achievement up - put some air conditioning in the classrooms for heaven's sake! Parents can't believe it when they walk into my room. "How can you stand it?" they ask. How, indeed.
