    If there is such a hotel room shortage, why are so many being converted to condos, like the Plaza?

    I live in Brooklyn and yes, there is definitely a hotel boom. But why are all these accommodations so expensive? Would love to see affordable ($100 a day or less) accommodations, especially for visiting relatives.

    Last I checked the Hilton on Gwanus cost $225 a night - not $140. It's ridiculous. You can get a b&b for $150 if you're lucky.
