The Fred Thompson youtube clip you played is not connected to the other clip you used. The heading on the youtube clip explains it somewhat. Thompson wrote an article trashing Moores trips to Cuba. Moore challenged Thompson to a debate on health care and the youtube clip is a response to the challenge.
What Fred Thompson fails to acknowledge in his attack on Michael Moore is that Sicko was not made in order to demonstrate that health care is better in Cuba than it is in America. Sicko was made to show that healthcare is better in every major industrialized nation than it is in America. Moore takes Americans down to Cuba for medical treatment because his genre is comic documentary. It’s not particularly funny if your neighbor can make better coffee than can your wife. It is funny if a chimpanzee in a dress can make better coffee than can your wife. Cuba is the chimpanzee in the dress. It’s the island of evil curing diseases.
I just have to say this about F. Thompson's bizarre mini-tirade. Besides the utterly disingenuous claim that he doesn't really have time in his busy schedule for Michael Moore, as near as I can tell he is basically saying that the price of quality health care in Cuba is tyrannical government. In other words, crappy health care is the price we pay for freedom!
Mr. Thompson will fit right in with the rest of the nutjobs running for the Republican nomination.
