Nathan Glazer, professor emeritus of sociology and education at Harvard University and the author of many books, including Beyond the Melting Pot, We Are All Multiculturalists Now and his latest, From a Cause to a Style: Modernist Architecture's Encounter with the American City (Princeton University Press, 2007), kicks off a series on public housing with a critique of modernist architecture and its effects on public space.

    Glazer's points are SO NOT NEW!

    Perhaps = a useful recapitulation of well-understood research since 1970, but he's just resting on academic laurels.
