Rep. Maloney would probably take the necessary action if she knew that just around the corner from her office on Third Ave. (at a facility for senior citizens) the womend residents are not permitted to use the Lobby Ladies' Room, but the men residents have easy access to t he Men's Room. The reason for this discriminatory policy: the CEO of the New York Foundation for Senior Citizens has issued an order to refuse to give the key to women residents "because they make a mess."

Will the Congresswoman take steps to remedy this?

I heard on WBAI this morning that Sen. Obama'a most generous contributions come from the Investment Bankers, specifically those heavily invested in the subprime racket...and that one woman (last name is Perez, as I recall) is known as the Sub-prime Queen

What do you know about this?

Sex discrimination against women exists because it pays off for men. Rep.Maloney cannot succeed in getting ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment by changing the name. She must confront and knowledgeably demolish the bogus arguments men used to defeat the ERA the last time. The five main sex discrimination gotchas that ERA proponents lacked the political nerve to attack head on before are: pregnancy discrimination (including legal barriers to abortion and employment/child care policies biased against women in paid employment); sex discrimination in insurance; discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation; use of military combat/draft exemption to deny women's status in the military and as full citizens and adults in the society; sex-segregated classes and schools supported by public funding and tax exemptions for sex-segregated private schools(neither can now use racial discrimination For extended discussion of these fake barries to women's right to equal protection of the law see: www.equality4women.org and www.centspermilenow.org.
