    Sunnyside Up?

Heads have rolled over the treatment of U.S. war casualties from Afghanistan and Iraq, but how will the treatment itself improve? On our next program, we’ll ask Congressman Brian Bilbray (R-CA) of the House Armed Services and Veterans Affairs committees. Also: the pros and cons of giving one Queens neighborhood landmark status; a preview of President Bush's trip to Latin America; the agreement on dealing with sex offenders; and what's next for Scooter Libby.

Veterans Affairs

Scooter Takes a Fall

Tom DeFrank, Daily News Washington Bureau Chief, reviews the verdict and speculates about what's next for I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Jr., now that he's been convicted of lying to a grand jury in the Valerie Plame matter.

Sentences for Sex Offenders

New York State Senator Martin Golden, R-22, Brooklyn, justifies his vote for a bill to detain sex offenders after they serve prison terms. Senator Kevin Parker, (D-21, Brooklyn) explains why he voted against. Callers weigh in.

Cloud over Sunnyside?

Everyone agrees that Sunnyside Gardens, a historic neighborhood in Queens, should be preserved. The question is how. Susan Turner Meiklejohn, resident of Sunnyside Gardens, member of Preserve Sunnyside Gardens and an associate professor of urban planning at Hunter College, talks about why her neighborhood should not receive official landmark status; Jeffrey A. Kroessler, associate professor at the library of John Jay College, founder of the Queensboro Preservation League, and member of the board of the Historic Districts Council, talks about why Sunnyside Gardens should be landmarked.
