    On April 8th, 1904, Mayor George McLellan formally renamed the former Longacre Square Times Square. A year later, the first large electrical sign appeared. In the 1980s, the Square was seedy and dangerous. But today on its 100th birthday, the "crossroads of the world" is safe, bright, and crowded. And a debate on the Islamization of Europe.
