Brian's Indie Rock Mixtape
Friday, May 20, 2011 - 12:00 PM
Brian mispronounced "Fugazi" on the air recently (whoops!) and our twitter friends came to the rescue. Using the hashtag #brianlehrerindiemixtape they suggested songs to bring Brian up to speed. Here is that playlist. Keep adding your suggestions in the comments below or just tweet them @brianlehrer (don't forget the hashtag).

I don't want to let this scroll off the page with out least somebody posting something, so here you go:

WFUV? I haven't listen in a while, but wow - what a speeper.
The best station in the country is Jersey City's WFMU.
I'd like to give a shout out to WKCR at 89.9 - Columbia U's radio station. It's a little eclectic but when you find your groove they just play song after song without stopping. Great classical music every morning, too.
The best advice I can give is to just move down the dial a little bit. Wfuv has the best music programming there is. They even have a program, as well as an entire station (available through streaming or hd radio) called 'The Alternate Side.' That along with Wnyc's soundcheck, The Greene Space website and Culture page are hands down the best ways to discover new music.
One greatest city, three (along with Wqxr) of the greatest public radio stations.
