Over the course of our New Littles project, we've identified some of New York's overlooked ethnic communities. Now, we want artists and illustrators to draw a new neighborhood map. Our favorites will be featured on the WNYC website and on-air during the Brian Lehrer Show. Upload your artwork directly below, or post a link in the comments page. Deadline for submission is Monday, July 11th. Here are some of the neighborhoods you may want to include (though you can obviously include others you know about):

TIPS:
- Start by playing around with our interactive New Littles google map.
- Draw the map however you'd like.
- Depict the whole city, or just one borough or neighborhood.
- Call your neighborhood whatever you'd like. Prefer "Little Bogota" to "Little Colombia"? That's fine. Just make sure your name matches with the information we're gathering in our project.
- Include whichever "littles" you want.
- Not sure how to depict a particular neighborhood or country of origin? Share your ideas in the comments section.

We'll start looking at the entries on Tuesday morning, the 12th, so anytime on Monday is fine. As for file size, you can upload a preview size for now in jpeg format, and we'll be back in touch with you directly to get display-size versions. Thanks!
I understand that the deadline is Monday, July 11 but what time do we have to submit by? (6pm?) Also, what are the file and format requirements? (PDF, 24x36, 300dpi?) Should we size the file so it can be printed poster size? Thanks.

It's up to you! Obviously there isn't just one pocket of Thai immigrants in the city. The map is simply a reflection of census data, while listener tips are obviously anecdotal. I tend to trust the eyes and ears on the ground, so might go with the listener tip. But really, it's your call.

question for you. when you use the interactive map to find little thailand, it takes you to a completely different location from the listeners tip section. which should I illustrate? the location suggested by the listener, in this case elmhurst queens, or the map that is presented by using the "interactive new little's google map"? thanks so much.
So, artists with years of education and experience are expected to do this work without monetary compensation just for the "glory and publicity" of being on the website? Some vague sense that it could potentially lead to notice or future work will not pay my rent or health insurance. I am tired of artists all the time being asked to create editorial content for free. WNYC should make a contest for corporate accountants, to see who can most efficiently manage the station's budget.
