Uncommon Economic Indicators Video Contest

Entertainment reporter Nick Leighton has his very own Uncommon Economic Indicator, which he posted as a video with the following comment:
I've noticed a gift bag slow-down since late-2007 and the number of events (like charity benefits and movie premiers) giving out swag (and the quality of this free stuff) dropped to nearly zero this spring, particularly during NYC Fashion Week.
Here's hoping the Gift Bag Index rebounds this summer...
Nick will talk with Brian Lehrer this coming Tuesday about his Swag Index, and he'll also take a look at the WNYC swag bag to give listeners an idea of what the winner of our Uncommon Economic Indicators Video Contest will get as part of the grand prize.

Ugh, very disappointed in this segment. Listening to this guest felt like watching something on the E! channel. Plus, a segment on swag? I thought WNYC was about getting away from materialism and conspicuous consumption. Ugh.
