This strike is not only affecting the school bus drivers and matrons of the City of New York, but will eventually affect the 4700 retirees of Local 1181. Retirees should do whatever they can to support our brothers and sisters at 1181 no matter where you live. Call or e-mail the Mayor's office, Senator Schumer's office and anyone else you can think of that could have an impact to end this strike.

Mr. Hanley couldnt have explained this issue better. The myths behind the worker salaries, the myth behind the EPP being illegal in addition to the other clarifications that he made. How shameful that the mayor is using these blue collar workers as scapegoats when in fact there are much more serious reasons explained by Mr. Hanley as to why these transportation costs are as high as they are, yet not as high as the mayor claims. Again today we see the unrational mind frame of this mayor not wanting to come to any compromise, even to the suggestions given by the mediator in these negotiations. The public needs to make their voices be heard by calling, emailing and/or writing their congressmen and the mayors office demanding he comes to some compromise and stop affecting the safety and livelihoods of the most vulnerable of this city. He needs to put aside that he is a billionaire and start doing what is best for the majority of regular working class citizens of this city!

I have mixed feelings about this whole thing but if what the guest is saying about their low wages is true, and NYC is paying some of the highest contracts in the US, then - where is that money going?

What can parents do to help the drivers and matrons? I have called my councilwoman, assemblyman, state senator etc etc. No one will stand up to Bloomberg.

I am a parent of two disabled boys who are effected by this bus strike. I think both the Mayor and the union are being stubborn and showing a total disregard for the thousands of innocent children harmed by this strike. I am about ready to organize a protest myself, with my children participating, to remind the parties involved that this impasse is harming some of our most vulnerable citizens. Both you and Mike Bloomberg should be ashamed of yourselves for what you are doing to our children.
