Every race needs its own Carl Paladino. Good thing we're getting this out of the way early in the campaign. Good luck, Mr. Catsimatidis -- you're gonna need it. Thanks for the laughs, Brian.
Way to push the discussion to Global Warming. We all know how important it is for city mayor's to weigh in on Global Warming. In addiiton, if you think sitting presidents don't try and use every trick in the book to manipulate numbers to get reelected, you are dense.
Let's stick to the WNYC basics: Free Abortions and Birth Control, LGBT Issues, Blindly Supporting Obama, Blaming Business For Every Problem, and Not Holding People Responsible For Their Actions.
I'm curious to know how many of these comments are coming from unemployable people blaming the world for their problems.
If you are making comments calling for higher taxes, please state how much you paid into the system. If you haven't paid in, your opinions don't really count for much.
I am glad this gentleman is in the race. He cannot win and he will do no harm, but he will provide some entertainment for a while a la Herman Cain.
World's Fair? New York City is already a world's fair. We don't need Proctor and Gamble or Walt Disney to spend any more time here than they already do. But there's no worry, this guy will never win.
In re to GDP his comments on GDP contraction.
As Catsimatidis was repeating fantastical accusations that Obama cooked the books during the election, I was reading this press release (link below) from the **conservative** National Assn of Manufacturers blaiming the contraction on the chilling effect of the GOP-led Fiscal Cliff logjam on the economy.
Catsimatidis reeks of the Tea Party's self-serving alternate reality. Unelectable.

@ Sheldon from Brooklyn
I don't know what Catsimatidis' point was. My point was that IF solar system-wide global warming is occurring, our current working theory is incomplete.
Personally, I've felt for a long time that framing CO2 reduction in terms of pollution reduction would be a lot more successful. For instance, coal burning is just terrible in terms of CO2, it's destroying waterways (via mountain top removal), and adding really really bad things like mercury into the atmosphere.
I think climate deniers would be hard pressed to deny that the collapse of the Tennessee Valley Authority's slurry pit was an event that MUST NOT be repeated. I would start beating the drum on this - co2 reduction would be a great side benefit.
Did he really say there's Global Warming across the solar system?! While there are all kinds of problems with that statement, please everyone, no more science illiterate politicians. We don't need one as mayor.

Hilarious interview, Brian. This guy is an epic fail. He'll never be mayor. What a dolt!
Hey Catsimatidis - You seem like a nice man, but please just stick to making yourself insanely rich and stay out of our lives, thank you.
David - then that is his point? Because other planets do not have "man made" carbon emissions, is he saying global warning is a truly natural trend?
Brian just asked if other planets in our solar system warming as well has anything to do with the climate change debate.
IF other planets are warming (I've heard people say this, don't know if it's true) - it is VERY significant. It would mean our theory of why climate change is occurring is not complete.
We need to be careful we don't run our economy into a ditch. People need to realize that if the US were to cease all fossil fuel use, it would make very little difference if everyone else continues on their merry way. We would merely be poverty stricken as well as still having the problems of climate change.
Global warming on other planets? The Commerce Department is cooking the books? Officially a candidate and officially a nut in one interview!! A worthy successor to Nan Hayworth as a BL show regular (please NOT).
Out of the fire (Bloomberg) into the frying pan when you vote for this man.
This guy is way too focused on business for business's sake. What's the point of business in a society? To improve the life quality of the people in the society. Maybe if all our politicians weren't fanatically focused on business as the golden pinnacle of society, we could use it as a tool for those of real importance - the people. Capitalism should be a tool, not a goal.
Oil completely from Americans? There's a company that turns cadavers into bio-fuel? Soylent Brown?
Global warming should be monitored, a laugh and a half. Yes, may be this guy’s home will one go down in a storm like Sandy. Or may be he'll take a rock to another planet, where he belongs. This guys is a joke. And full of bull sh…..
"global warming on other planets..." ??? What is he talking about? We don't need another offshoot of whack-a-billy-trumpesque thinking! NEXT!
If this guy is actually elected mayor, I'm moving to NJ.
i think that interview takes care of Catsimatidis! Another bored, unprepared bajillionare who thinks he can snow the American people into electing him so he can learn about government. Next!
His point about global warming elsewhere in the solar system has been talked about, temps have gone up on Mars so climate change may be sun related. yes the books could be cooked Brian...too hard to accept?
He honestly doesn't seem like a bad guy, but for someone who almost ran for mayor four years ago and announced formally yesterday, his answers on NYC-specific issues were very superficial. You can't just "common sense" or "visionary' your way through complicated policy issues.
This dude is full of hot air! He hasn't answered 1 question straight. No way I will vote for him in the Republican Primary.
I am a regular listener and am seldom moved to comment, but I find myself in a slow boil as I listen to Mr. Catsimatidis talk about his $99 sports coat concern for the common New Yorker. I want to concur with the earlier comment that NO ONE who has ever shopped at Gristedes will ever vote for him. I have a choice between shopping at a Gristedes one block from home or other grocery stores at some distance (I have no car), and I always avoid Gristedes to avoid price gouging as their prices are always 30-100% higher. Mr. Catsimatidis has made his billions on the backs of New Yorkers. Why would we believe that he will have our interests at heart as mayor?
Man of the people! Ask any of his workers at his groceries. Hell holes. Sounds like the same buffoon who stumbled through his appearance with BL 4 years ago. Amazing who gets rich
This is getting ugly. I'm actually feeling kind of sorry for this guy.
Ok - with that "cooking the books" comment, he will not be mayor.
This shows once again if you have enuff money you can run for
any thing in this country.
His answers are "simple" at best.
Has no handel on global warming at all.
Pluto needs a mayor!
Global warming on other planets????Says who???? Stop pulling "facts" out of your rectum...and don't forget your tin foil hat my man.
please make him say something in spanish.
So - he's complaining about the "high"commercial rents but he's "pro-business"?
given that he is defining himself as 'New Yorker' please ask him why his is not running as independent? he may have better chances with many. thanks.
Sorry, Sir. No one who has ever shopped at Gristedes will ever vote for you. Ordinary working people are not able to shop there as their prices are significantly higher than any other store.
what a dumbass comment, that no democrat is pro-business. im so sick of these sacks of dung spewing their idiocy and expecting people to not analyze what they say. just a fool....
Ask the people in Willets Point if government is working for them ?
What's your stance on stop and frisk and the massive taxpayer payouts for police abuse and unconstitutional practices?
Hey Brian,
Please ask the candidate what his stance is on stop and frisk and the massive lawsuits taxpayers shell out for police abuse and unconstitutional practices.
Thank you
I have to agree, though. Mayor Bloomberg is a total POS. I have zero respect for him.
I wouldn't mind another billionaire mayor as long as he's not Bloomberg crazy. If he wants to reign in the NYPD with real punishments for abusive practices, support true civil rights, the legislative process, unions, etc. Basically, if he's a true progressive libertarian, then I would vote for him.
Yes, that's just what we need, yet another businessman to run the city. Running a business is not the same as running a government. Get it everyone? Running a government does not mean being concerned with only the bottom line. Governments must be more flexible than business and not so concerned with spreadsheets.
