I cannot believe the Knights Templar were not mentioned. How far our culture has come, to forget some of the greatest political intrigues of all times. Wow ... 10/13/1307.

People give Dan Brown credit -- rightly because he creates a novel out of tenous threads of information -- but that information existed before he wrote that novel: I did a paper on the stuff back in high school in the early 1970s, based on works published earlier. Dan Brown just gave new focus to very old info. Just because it's in a novel does not mean it is fabricated. Geeze.

It was of little note in the press of its day because ... guess who controlled the press: the church. So. But people close to the KT never forgot it, it was historic to them, and bad "luck" indeed.

RE:Sarah
I agree with you on 11.
I loath that number for personal reasons and avoid 11.
In Judaism, 11 falls outside the realm of god (10) and is therefore the devil's number. Religious Jews see 10 as the number of completion, anything beyond that is Satan's.

I have nothing against 13.

!3 was a sacred number to the matriarcal peoples because it is the number of moon cycles in a year.
The centuries of the terrorism of the people following the Malleus Malificorum, murdering millions of women and others who had any connection to the matriarcal beliefs, made people fear and spurn anything related to the matriarcal religions, including the number 13.

What I don't understand is that even if a floor is not labeled, it's still the 13th floor, so wouldn't anyone who is afraid of thirteen be afraid of that? Or any thirteenth? No building that has thirteen or more floors will always have a thirteenth floor despite the numbering.

Thirteen is not about unlucky its the number of CHANGE . 12 is the balance 13 decides which side the balance will go to ...

Change is not lucky to those who do not know what to expect or do not have the knowledge to profit and survive it.
Change is essential for progress and profit ... That is why the USA is all about the number 13 you see it all over the dollar ... The US thus positions itself as the bringer of change and the power of change

The whole deal stems from the mass execution of the Knights Templar on Friday 13th in whatever year that was, when the vast majority were destroyed by the Pope because of their attempts to control the church. Secret orders were sent by the Pope, to be opened at same time. The orders were to kill the Knights!!

In Astrology, 13 is a lucky number. Its silly to avoid it so much - the building I work in has no 13th floor. My office spans three floors, 11, 12 and 14. Seems ridiculous to avoid a superstition to that extreme

I fear the number 11 and avoid flights with those numbers and take off times. I think I am still suffering from the effects of 9/11.

Lest we forget Channel 13!

There are 12 signs of the zodiac, but 13 is 1 above the zodiac - 13 overcomes the limitations of this mortal coil!
A very lucky number for Jews for this reason.
Yesterday I booked a flight and when I went to pick my seat, I noticed that the airline skipped Row 13. I wanted to sit in Row 13 but it went 12, 14, 15.
