Maybe you can schedule a segment, with the appropriate officials and officers and everyday library users, to discuss the differences in scheduling between and among branches?
Commentator:
Q: "do you think illegal immigration has had the effect of lowering wages for workers, especially lower income workers:
Newsome:
A: "many studies and reports have celebrated the positive economic of immigration".
Newsome didn't answer the question. I can't help but think of Meg Whitman, trying to hide her undocumented, off-the-books housekeeper......as an example of the policy, that Newsome was trying to doublespeak around.
Glad I got to hear that......
If libraries were invented today the swat teams would be busting down the doors and arresting librarians for copywrite infringment, same with radio.
@Joe
Exactly! What "Todd" doesn't understand is that his company is moving to Texas so that they can pay him less money. I love how these folks complain about the high cost of living in places like SF and NYC, but they NEVER complain about the high salaries they can earn by living in these places.
And lets understand what's it like to live in Texas. There is no state income tax but there are high property taxes and you pay for everything. The only thing the state provides is all those highways. Free concerts and cultural events like we have here in NYC don't exist in Texas.
Whatever you do, NEVER say "Thomas Friedman".
Unless of course, you're collecting examples of diminished logic.
I'm with fuva. The only real way to equality and democratization is action - physical action. Anyone can get behind a keyboard and screen and state an ideology. But it takes self-determination to make things actually change.
@caller Todd-
Adios, and take your sourpuss 'tude with you. Have fun watching the tumbleweeds blow across the dry desert of Texas. You'll be missing the magic of the big apple in no time.
Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya, lol!
I'm sorry but your guest is a prime example of a sell out. He argues that twitter is a great democratizing force of equalizing. WRONG. One cannot ignor the fact that the tech boom has made everything irrelevant! This is why Corporations like twitter drown out voices through top tweets and sponsored tweets. Because freedom as sold by gov. Newsom is a LIE for his private gain!
Highest minimum wage highest rents and cost of living
I'm sorry to say but the basic premise of your guest moral argument is WRONG. To make everything equal, or flat as he puts makes everything irrelevant. He cites twitter as the great equalizing technology, but twitter itself only displays top tweets, sponsored tweets thereby privatizing democratic voice even more than before all this !
More brick and mortar forums (foras?) need to be institutionalized at the local congressional district level. For every important civic development, there should be an independent, non-partisan, accessible forum to assist citizens in demystifying and grasping the nuance. Online forums alone are insufficient. People learn in different ways and shared, in-person inquiry seems more conducive to civic ACTION.
The wrath of Thomas Friedman.
Statist
He is saying nothing...calmly, so it sounds like he is saying something. Great job!
So Angry Birds is a model for governing??
What happens if the lights go out??
we need less government sir
Is he on the side of making Internet access be a public utility? I have seen now two books advocating such.
Does Newsome see the support for Christopher Dorner as a symptom of this disconnect?
I hope that in light of the Sandy Hook massacre and Lawrence Wright's new book, you will ask Mr. Newsome about his anti-psychiatry, pro-Scientology stance.
