I actually saw Hani, the sidewalk artist, working on that chalk drawing of Sen. Obama--& the one of Sen. Clinton next to it--during the 2008 primary season.
And I was working at Columbia U. Press in 1982 & 1983, so I could easily have passed Barack Obama on the street or on the campus when he was a CU student. Maybe he was in the crowd watching Philippe Petit bring the silver trowel across the tightrope to the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in 1982!
