You are showing yourself to be a pretentious snob. Methinks your protest too much in your anti-Marvel, anti- comic book superhero rants. For a lot of us babyboomers these comic books served as a gateway to longer forms of extended literture. In the 19th Century books by Herman Melville and Mark Twain were marketed as boys adventure books. In other words the comic books of their day.

If you are concerned about the current studio products of late let remind of a quote by Lily Tomiln which I'm was stated by others "it's called show business not show art"

Edward from Wash Heights - all the films you cited are GREAT. We need more of both types 1) adaptations of literary greats and 2) great screenplays that owe nothing to Marvel Comics or superheroes. We need less Batman, Spiderman, Avengers, etc.

Also more films like The Conversation, Five Easy Pieces, The Last Detail, Save the Tiger, The Candidate, The Best Man, The Seventh Seal, and Day for Night.

Whatever you see, do not waste your money on The Dictator!

Marvel Comics are pure, unadulterated garbage. Comic books are the lowest, crudest form of fiction and it's a travesty that millions of dollars are spent on adapting this garbage to the big screen. We need more Henry James, Louis Auchincloss, William Gaddis, Thomas Pynchon, and John Barth adaptations.

I get greater enjoyment from watching anything on TCM (Turner Classic Movies), with introductory comments by Robert Osborne, than any film for the last 10 years.

Current day movies are guns, car crashes, explosions, obvious computer graphics, and dumb story lines. Speaking of dumb writing, anyone think SNL is funny anymore?

So -- board games, amusement park rides and comic books are the artistic source for the highest grosing movies in the US. Yeesh.

Is Ms. Stevens serious? She didn't know that Josh Brolin/Tommy Lee Jones play K. She's never played Battleship? I'm having real doubts on why I ought to accept her opinion.

A dark fairy-tale I cannot count the number of parents who will damage their too young kids because "It's just another telling of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs..." EVEN IF it's rated PG-13.
