When is the media going to step up and get some fortitude to call out this campaign BS for what it is (on both sides)?! If you google the recent Romney ads about Obama's "you didn't build that" speech, most of the results you see are from Lewis Black on the Daily Show pointing out the hypocrisy of the Romney ad with the fact that the small business owner featured actually received $800,000 in tax exempt bonds from the government. Why do we have to rely on the Daily Show to publicize this sort of information? It's a terrible situation.
There are so many things voters don't understand about this election and what President Obama has been trying to do these last three and a half years that they will vote for anyone but. You are correct, Ms. Sale, in saying that those poor Republicans will indeed be voting against their own best interest if they vote for mr. romney, but trying to explain that to them is an exercise in futility. How far down will they have to go before they realize that voting Republican will never be in their best interest?
Americans don't need to be taught to fish, they need to be taught to think.
The GOP ultimately wins by putting up awful presidential candidates just viable enough to distract Americans from how the Republican grip on the Congress chokes any hope of progress towards goals Americans say they are interested in.
Why is Brian and Anna Sale criticizing the president based on the out-of-context ads the Republicans are running based on ''you didn't build that.'' If you SAW the speech the president gave, he CLEARLY gestured in a way that could not allow for this decontextualization--when he said ''you didn't build that'' he pointed so as to indicate what he JUST SAID ('roads and bridges.'') Come on, Fox News doesn't need your help.
ah middle Americans, clinging to their guns, religion, and belief that the government has nothing to do with the survival of their small businesses. And their lack of intellectual curiosity--they can't be bothered to listen beyond an obvious out of context soundbite. This is what Romney is counting on.
@ Martin C: Hey Martin, instead of writing in 2 hours before the segment to criticize what Ms. Sales "has probably discovered", why not wait and listen to what she ACTUALLY says? Plenty of time and space for you to criticize then (or even the outside chance that you may hear something you agree with). You would still have time to catch most of Rush's show just down the AM dial.
What Ms. Sale has probably discovered is that the voters are kept unaware of the persistently bad economic news from all fronts by the Obama Mainstream Media (and Obama Public Radio) ……….Romney’s invented “gaffes” are pushed as the “headlines”.
GDP fell yet again to 1.5%? Nah!
CBO re-scored Obamacare since the SCOTUS ruling on state participation and finds now that the “Affordable Care Act” is now UNAFFORDABLE? Nah!
The great government success story, GM, is in big trouble ....and shares languish at $19.60? Nah!
Obama just held his first cabinet meeting of 2012 last week and met for the first time with his Labor Secretary while unemployment has been over 8% for 41 straight months? Nah!
