Wow, Brian look how ignorant and frightened your audience is. They are perfect victims for a dictator and there is a person in DC with his eyes on that prize. This is your doing and that of NPR, PBS & WNYC which has ignored the true facts and figures about firearms. It has been conclusively proven that more guns equal less crime. Given the 270 to 350 million firearms in private hands in this country and the billions perhaps trillions of bullets that are fired yearly by the estimated 75 - 95 million individual owners, gun usage is safer than flying if you equate each bullet with each mile. Tell the truth!

Ban guns in the US - except for the secret service, military and law enforcement. Put the rest in jail.
Certain factions of the hip hop community have helped popularize the appeal of the Glock.
I'm sure the company just loved their "brand" being out there in the public consciousness regardless of circumstances.

I carried one as a police officer and was very comfortable it. But, while on the range one day one of the range officers showed me how to squeeze the trigger in such a way that the gun acted like a fully automatic one...he emptied the magazine with one trigger pull.

I was involved in two shootings and during each one I had tunnel vision and could not hear anything. When it was all over what actually happened was different from what I believed I saw in slow motion.

This smacks of product placement..... all over NPR on many shows.
Guns are tools that make it easier to shoot things. Handguns make it easier to shoot people. What does Glock do to be certain that the weapons they manufacture end up in the hands only those who can legally possess them? What's the authors position on the 2nd Amendment? I would LOVE to see the open right for pistols and handguns revoked.
Sharons - couldn't agree more. Why are we glorifying an industry whose product has only one purpose: violence?
I have a plastic toy gun from the 80s that looks just like a glock. Have toy guns improved at all to look less like the real thing?
This writer was on "Fresh Air" and he revealed a good lot of marketing research on Glock's success in the US; some ingenious twists for business marketers. However, yeah, this is NYC so no-one can have a gun anyway.
How would you compare the Glock to the AK-47, another widely recognized gun?
Brian this is a TERRIFYING show. I was willfully ignorant of this subject matter but I'm glad to hear about it now. I just can't wrap my brain around any of this. Guns are just plain scary.
What a great gun - everyone over the age of 16 should have one or two. Brian, I hope you'll take a few calls from actual gun owners.
