On China and US: Reflections on Brian Lehrer's Trip. Brian said when he stood at Tienanmen square it left him cold maybe he would feel warm if he could make reference to wikileaks US Ambassador's telegram that there was no massacre at Tienanmen Square. Maybe Brian has never heard of wikileaks.

Another China show from Brian and predictably we get the usual. Dictators, human right oppressors, colonialists, occupiers. (Not to be confused with israel )Maybe he will talk about shanghai, Beijing infrastructure vs NY or Any US cities. Jealousy maybe!

Only the LEFT wants to ignore our allies.

They always blame it on "both sides".

None of these disputes heated up until the recent explosion of Chinese nationalism.

"US can't sit on the side".

Tepperman.....you underestimate Barry Obambi, our "C-I-C" could sit on his hands on ANY issue.

Only news because it is suddenly on wnyc's radar... for 2 decades the tenor has been heightened to a fevered pitch between all 8 regional countries. Vietnamese, for example, are getting arrested right now for street protests over this issue:

Good heavens, Brian, the other day on your show you didn’t even know about the recent (or previous) cable cutting incidents that Chinese commandos, disguised as “fishermen”, have been doing to foreign ships all around the South China Sea.
You listen to NPR too much.

And please don’t waft lyrically with your fellow traveler guest on the “peaceful rise” of the belligerent Beijing bully boys.
