David Pogue, weekly tech columnist for the New York Times, goes back to the basics with tricks you might have missed that make gadgets work better.
dar.fm is horrible to navigate. There are virtually no stations signed up that I listen to other than Npr.

Jade I don't have any calendar app suggestions, I use the default, but try evernote for your to dos....
In case you are forwarding posts to Pogue:
I can't find an iPhone calendar app in which you can just jot something next to a time of day; they all seem to make you enter in start and end times, which is pretty annoying. So I still use my actual paper datebook!
P.S. Alt-D is Apple-L on a Mac.P.P.S. I donated!
@Rebecca Apple's got you covered for $99:
You can actually use some of the memory card recovery utilities on hard drive volumes as well.
A slight correction is needed:
Streaming AUDIO uses LOTS LESS bandwidth than streaming VIDEO.
The impact on your cellular plan with just audio is a fraction of that with video.
My wife had a stroke and lost the use of her right hand. Are there alternative keyboards that she could use? Are there other mice devices or other accomidations that we could employ?

What I want, instead of having occasional items given to me that don't (nothing personal, David) match my needs, but a regularly updated "dictionary" that could be sorted by function, word, key, etc.
How about a high capacity (100+ GB) portable MP3 players that's not an Ipod? A few years ago there were a bunch on the market, but not it seems to be exclusively Apple. Where did they go?
I foolishly did not put a cable outlet in my living room when I renovated. Now I want TV there and it is a major undertaking to get it there -- why isn't there wireless TV? What can I do?
Hello - how can we begin to tell Yahoo that their "improved" calendar is a mess? Do consumers have any influence at all? Obviously Yahoo has invested a lot in its calendar redesign, but it doesn't work. Now what? Thank you.
when will the iphone 4 on Verizon be able to operate on 4G as a mobile hotspot and why isn't this possible now?
What is the best digital reader to hack into a tablet?
Alt-D? What is it on a Mac? Sounds useful, but I don't have an Alt key. (Or is it just that I have an old keyboard?)
Why cant a windows touch netbook be made?=This would of course be a catch-up to the Motorola and Apple tablets.
Mr. Pogue recently wrote a column about camera apps for the iPhone. Can he recommend similar apps for Android phones, especially replacement apps for the built-in camera app? Thanks.
We've lived through some pretty horrible natural disasters this year. Earthquakes, tsunamis, floods and tornadoes. New personal safety apps like Guardly and iSOS have been launched recently to speed help during an emergency. What does David think about this new use of smartphones? Can they really help to save lives?
