What's up with Bobby today? I have not seen that he has brought any food to the nest. This looks bad for mom and eyare.
How about a nice Latin name like Librarius for this baby growing up in a library. I know it's a mouthful. but it could be Libra for short.
Please keep covering these hawks. They have the hearts of NewYorkers and beyond. We're obsessed!
While we agree that a wild animal doesn't really need a name, we suggest the name Hudson, in honor of everyone's favorite river, or perhaps, Jay, for everyone's favorite NYC walker.
Name - "Ledger" - can grow up to be an accountant.
We're all imagining that if our foot were swollen to double or triple its normal size, like Violets, that we would seek treatment. So considering that Violet sits just the other side of a pane of glass, and a man-made tag is what is causing continued injury, it's logical that people would want to "right this wrong". Horvath seemed confident last week that he could net Violet and remove the tag. Now that NY DEC took over, it appears that nothing will be done. I think we're all nervous about this since the camera has given us a new appreciation of the wonders of nature. Against all odds these hawks have managed to build a nest and hatch a chick in the NYC concrete jungle. It gives us hope for the future.
What about the name George (in respect to Washington Sq.)? Something resolute, and strong. (Or Jorge)
ethan!
baby hawk name: Nyck (nick).
The hatchling doesn't need a name. It's a wild animal. It's obvious which one is being referred to ('baby' or 'hatchling') so why would it need a human handle?
I have been watching everyday since Friday, i'm a total Violet addict! Can your guest tell us why they include garbage pieces in nest, it appears to be intentional.
The only reality show worth watching.
I heard the earlier segment--I thought 2 eggs had hatched! What happened to the other hatchling?
What would Darwin say?
It's difficult to watch Violet now as she fulfills her mothering 'duties' (sorry to anthropomorphize her). She seems to be in a lot of pain, or at least discomfort. I truly hope that the experts are keeping a very close eye on her.
does anyone know what all that stuff is in the nest? looks like plastic bags?
