If you make one of Sandra Lee's cake recipes you will find only mixes and ingredients for things any sane person would never eat - all mixes, cool whip, totally made from artificial ingredients. It isn't food to give people who need nutrition. What people say here about the cuts for poor and allowing super-rich to not pay their share is totally correct and causes more people to need the Food Bank. It's hypocracy not democracy. We will be sorry we voted for Cuomo and his shouting voice and Ms. mixmaster. Yuck.

Wonderful but definitely not the world's largest - I have to believe that honor goes to mom Gretchen Holt Witt. Whoa. Yeah, that distancing from Michelle Obama is just weird. Recognizing Obama's work might have lent her some cred and indicated some sincerity in her work. But she clearly doesn't want to be associated with Obama nor does she seem sincere about the cause for children's nutrition.

Brian had to ask the question about the ironic work of her boyfriend necessitating the increased demand on food banks. If any celebrity had a similarly dissonant connection, they'd be asked about it.

And please. Criticize Lehrer's questions if you like, but the man is anything but smarmy. He is always polite and pretty sensitive when asking hard questions. "Smarmy" is out of left field and is simple name-calling.

If she really wanted to do something that would help the Food Bank and overstretched food pantries, instead of preening on TV and radio, when she gets home at night, she ought to lecture Cuomo on the inanity of cutting taxes on the rich. That only increases the burden on the rest of the population and many of those folks will end up at food pantries when they can't make ends meet.

The irony of Sandra Lee helping fundraise for food pantries while her "signinficant other" increases people's need for those selfsame pantries is indeed ironic. And Brian was absolutely right to bring that subject up.

I found Ms. Lee completely lacking in grace and civility. I was surprised at how quickly and without grace she refused to compare herself with Michelle Obama and the first lady's efforts to help obese children, so weird... and what's with the Fox news connection??? Who are these people?? I've had to depend on these food pantries, and they're all pushing really horrible, corporate food...

Interesting that Mario Batali is participating in a benefit for the Food Bank when he doesn't treat his own workers fairly. The workers at his restaurant Del Posto "are ... demanding that managers be trained to stop discrimination, racism, sexual harassment, and verbal and physical abuse on the job! The workers are also demanding an end to wage theft and the misappropriation of their tips by the company."

Sandra Lee Is Cuomo's girlfriend?!!! Holy crap!! I didn't know that. So he eats from opened cans and boxes after all those years at home with mamma eating delicious fresh italian goodies!!

Sandra was a Food TV star before Cuomo was anything more than a son of Cuomo. Brian is sounding a bit patronizing. He's really pushing me and I tend to listen to him less and less. This interview is an example of why. Smarmy without the real wit that should go with it.

I used to work with these kind of celebrity charities. These are marketing events, for both Cuomo and and Sandra's book/show.

Okay so she's been doing this for 5 years. But there is something ironic about her fundraising for NY Food Banks and a Governor boyfriend who is making policies that hurt the poorest and reward the richest and ensure that those food banks will be getting a lot more customers.

Just sayin.

How much are Mario and Lidia making on this? They usually don't do anything that doesn't bring them some kind of monetary recompense.

Why all these references to "Cuomo girlfriend"? Doesn't she have a career that has no relationship to the governor? Is she now doomed to live-work in his shadow? Do you print - more than one reference - on the show lineup page the personal relationships of all your guests? For shame!!!
