True Grit all the way! Hallie Steinfeld MUST win best supporting actress! Wow! What a performance!
Damn - posting too late. Brian - there have been articles in the Britpress about a letter
written supposedly from an Academy member saying some members won't vote for The Kings Speech because of anti-semitism in the Brit Royals around the war - it would be an interesting topic.
Jeremy - Jackie Weaver did get a nomination for best supporting actress for Animal Kingdom.
With the state of the natioin as it is, truly, who cares?
left out - Shutter Island , director Martin Scorsese
How do you reconcile the best picture and best director categories? Would not the best director of the year have directed the best picture?
If Colin Firth doesn't win it this year, I will put my foot through the TV screen.
If there's an English film, especially one about the Brits, any other film in the running has no chance. The Oscars always swoon over the English. Really too bad for such much better films this year as Winter's Bone & Social Network.

I'm surprised that Daft Punk's score for Tron didnt get a nomination. Tron wasnt a great film for the ages or anything but that score was fantastic.
Surprised that Jacki Weaver, from Animal Kingdom, didn't get a nod. It's hard to think of another actor who received more critical accolades.
What about Mother being snubbed for best Foreign Language film? I've seen it popping up critics lists all over, but no nod.
I was surprised, or at least disappointed, that Lesley Manville didn't get a nomination for Another Year. Thoughts?
