Enjoyed the wedding simply enjoyed it
for a brief moment made forget about
the horriable things in this world. That
there can be happines for a brief moment in this world.
Hi, I think it is a great thing that a commoner married Prince William. I think that being a royal, though I am sure it has its drawbacks, is something many women envy and want for themselves. There is nothing wrong with fairy tales. As your guest said, there are too many bad things happening in the world and this is a positive thing. Many of us (myself included) want a taste of the best in life. Eugenia Renskoff

Your Royal Highness The United Kingdom Crown Prince William and Your Serene Highness Miss Catherine Middleton,
Your Royal Wedding Day has come and goes, but may not only all Your great dreams and fantasies come true, but also may Your tender, genuine, and great love blossoms together!
Dear distinguished and noble personalities, may Your great love grow and grow like an oak that has lots of acorns every year. May Your noble marriage be very happy and blessed!
You are married to the one of Your dreams, aren't You? If love were sand, there would be a wide seashore near every edge of the sea and ocean; if love were a seashell, there would be a precious diamond inside each seashell found on a lovely sunny sandy beach.
If a marriage is a warm and special time in life, may it be the beginning of the most wonderful time forever. If there is a serene place somewhere, together is the most ideal place to be, isn't it there?
Very sincerely and warmly wishing You both life full of the perfectly happiest years in Your great lives filled with great love and tenderness,

I was dismayed at first when the program began with the segment on the royal wedding (which does not really interest me too much). So it was a pleasant surprise when Jamie Floyd and her guest gave us a thoughtful and even provocative take on the event, instead of fluff and gush. Thank you.
I dropped an F Bomb and turned off WNYC this morning. The ONE place I thought o could go for real news today and I get this slop.
This is why Americans shouldn't give a dime about the royal wedding:
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/04/29/uk-cops-arrest-professor-for-planning-zombie-wedding-mock-execution-during-royal-ceremony/
Over a dozen British police officers engaged in a "pre-crime" arrest of a university professor and a street theater group yesterday, in what activists called a "Minority Report"-style crackdown ahead of the royal wedding.
"Professor Chris Knight, 68, a former anthropology lecturer at the University of East London, had planned to engage in a bit of street theater with a group of activists that were dressed in medieval garb. According to reports, the group had constructed a fake guillotine and planned to stage a mock execution of Prince Andrew Edward, the queen's second oldest son."
Royalty is anathema to the American experiment and anyone who is enamored by these people would have been called traitors in the early days of our country.
Hey Caroline, I wasted a few minutes reading the piece in Slate that you linked to. I find it amusing to hear someone whining about whining. Isn't the author really guilty about the same kind of thing? And hey there are plenty of outlets where you can find drivel about royal weddings (or Justin Bieber). I like going to NPR for a little respite from all that. Why do you need to drag your cultural floss with you everywhere you go?
The monarchy is a "tourist attraction"???
It "balances out"???
The drain to the British citizenry hardly "balances out".
This archaic institution needed to be dismantled half a century ago!
Sorry to inject some reality, but it's a disgrace that so many Americans are interested in this garbage. There was a revolution so that we wouldn't have to care about these inbred morons. Let's worship people who actually work for their money.
"let no man put asunder" can i get literal and silly, and ask, does this exempt women as potential marriage wreckers ?

hey, vocal minority of npr listeners: stop being such a predictable charicature of yourselves.
Here, here, J.D. from west village!!
Please make it stop.
Who PAYS for this ridiculous spectacle???
Please make it stop. Enough things are happening in this country to make me think we are going backwards at full speed.
why do people keep bringing up the 'obey' thing? diana didn't say it either, and that was 1981. why would kate say it? this is not new.
Enough with these parasite bores parading around in their cheesy Halloween attire. Nice they've been able, through centuries of slavery, genocide, tyranny, and inbreeding, to accumulate and retain unfathomable wealth, with no real public accounting.
In the midst of servile media lap dogs focusing on this perverse circus, Obama chose this week to appoint the civilian head of the CIA to head the Pentagon, and the military head of operations in Afghanistan to head the civilian CIA. How do you like your banana republic now?
As far as gossip page interest, the Chelsea Clinton wedding was sort of an American equivalent, yet the Clintons worked so hard to keep everything private.
What's with the cattiness and misogyny from Joanna Cole, and even at one point from the host (the remark about "bad taste" being genetic). What "little girls" will learn from such remarks is that, even in 2011, women can still expect to be demeaned and humiliated by shamelessly sexist women. So disheartening.
be brave it's over soon
i could not envision wanting my child to marry into that sort of horrific public scrutiny. put aside, the madness of the monarchy itself as an institution.
since when is people in the middle east throwing off decades of autocratic rule part of the "bad news" that we have been inundated with? I am happy for the royal couple but please...
PLEASE MAKE THIS DRIVEL STOP!!!
The whole of media has wasted a lot of useful air on this wedding. It is sickening that Wnyc should join in. Who cares how many Americans went to see this event? Or hear their truly unremarkable comments about it. At least on this station.
This glorification of the glorified-for-no-good-reason turned me off from the start. But caught some of the footage on the morning news and can see how the pomp and spectacle could be...interesting...The best thing about the kiss photo are the reactions of the flower girls. Great!
The Royal Family? What a waste of time. And even on NPR it's impossible to get real news coverage this morning.
Alabama? Libia? Nope: Prince William. Great.
WHY???
