What a shame so many people are such unhappy souls. To be as bitter as you are over the happiness of others is terribly sad.
Congratulations to Prince William and what I assume will be "Princess" Catherine.
All else can celebrate or drink to your bad mood and manners.

Hi, Brian, Doesn't Prince Charles actually have to become King Charles after his mother, Queen Elizabeth, dies in order for him to abdicate? As your guest said, Charles has been waiting all his life to become king. Princess Diana put royalty back on the map when she married Charles. Many people are interested in the royal wedding on Friday. It is escapism and there is too much negativity, killings, unfairness, etc, in the world. This is a fairy tale. What is wrong with fairy tales? Eugenia Renskoff
I will chime in with my disappointment that this nonsense is being covered. I understand that Brian is trying for a more historical and intellectual reading of the situation, but if Diana hadn't died, and in such a gruesome manner, no one would care about any of this.
And who are these people wanting him to step aside? People don't like Charles because of his (perceived) part in what happened to Diana. William is young and unknown so they're not tired of him yet. It's just a popularity contest.
Hey Jack:
Northern Ireland may have a queen, but Ireland does not. When you refer to the 'Irish' in such a general way you sound ignorant and chauvinistic. please get your facts straight.
Why is this a segment?
The royals are just tax leeches...and yeah anachronistic is an understatement
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not cover this crap on WNYC. This is listener supported radio and it is unfair to clog our channel with this stuff.
Either Brian Lehrer becomes the Queen of England or they are banihe from my beloved radio.
I'm turning the radio off now. Bye!
(Sorry, Leonard.)
Why do we give a damn?
Great Britain needs to abolish its monarchy ASAP. Monarchies are ancient relics that need to follow dinosaurs into extinction.
Make Jeremy Clarkson King of Britain!!
enough with this royalty obsession. it's the stuff of tabloids and no longer has the meaning and importance that it used to...
as i see it, it's a family matter and we should just let them play things out in private.
