When it's used to help people become Imams their will be an outcry I bet, but not now...
Look into Robinson Home School. I met Mr. Robinson at a lecture in NY City and had dinner with him and a group from the audience. After his wife died, he had his kids self-educate, with materials he assembled. They then zipped through college and now run his home school company. Since we do not know what kind of jobs our children will be preparing for in 10 or 15 years, let's provide them with independent, creative problem solving tools. These can be learned without technology, yet can be applied to technology later.

If that student does not like sitting in front of a computer for six hours a day, she will have a lot of difficulty in the private sector. And she should definitely avoid a job in the law.
Our math teacher for our 6th grade son suggested using an online course for extra - more advanced math - our son is very smart and his current math classis very easy. They sent us to a John's Hopkins program - but it is a fee to sign up for a test, a fee to take a placement test and an exhobitant fee to take the course. Are there any other options in NJ?
All of those smart boards in my son's elementary school are just fun toys for teachers. This is the technology that can be cut. They need to keep computers, internet access and other program access fees so that students will be prepared for the future.
Are pencils still being manufactured anywhere?
Students need to learn to use technology for learning, not just play. For those going onto college, they need to be able utilize learning management tools for many of their college courses. Blended learning is the best.
