I have designed a public option but can't reach Anthony Weiner.. i.e. www.the-public-option.com
He wants a public option--how does this mdember of the public reach nthis man.
Would Weiner support Canada if the were taking land, and building settlements in upstate New York, the way Israel is doing? Come on! If they're so great over there, feel free to run for office, OVER THERE!
One could make the argument that Israel's obstinate behavior is one of the main reasons we find ourselves involved in two deadly and pointless wars. Not to mention the fact that this condition has fueled radical Islam and terrorism for decades!!! Israel consistently puts American lives at risk!!!
I was with Weiner and thinking "I like this guy and would support him" right up til his opinion on the Israel issue. It's time to stop giving money to Israel. We do so much for them and they slap us in the face. They have never acted in good faith. I won't be voting for Weiner any time soon.
Weiner is cowardly pandering by accusing the Obama Administration of overreacting to the settlement announcement. Every international body, as well as Israel's own Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, have recognized that the settlements are a violation of international law. The settlements are also a main impediment to meaningful peace initiative. The Israeli announcement made a clear statement that they did not take the Vice President or the US peace efforts seriously. How exactly was the US supposed to react under such circumstances?
Did Congressman Weiner really just criticize the Obama administration for "going too far" regarding their response to the Israeli settlement flap? Netanyahu needs to understand that America will not stand by as his administration inflames whatever shred of hope the peace process has, especially during an official visit by the Vice President. Even though Israel is America's closest ally in the region, they should not expect a free pass on this.
Anthony, I admire your noble efforts for healthcare - you are a true hero on this cause. However, you are way off base with your comments regarding the recent OUTRAGEOUS behavior on the part of the Israelis. Why does the US have to put up with this incendiary act? The Israelis consistently sabotage the peace process. It's time they got in line and stopped jeopardizing America's few best intentions!
The United States was out of line?!? Really!?!Israel has been treated with kid gloves in this debacle. Talk is cheap and the United States has made absolutely no change in its policies toward or billion dollar subsidies to Israel. If a slap on the wrist “shame on you”, which is all the United States has done so far, is out of line and disproportionate, then I just don’t understand how the world works anymore or to whom elected Americans loyalty lies. I supported Anthony Weiner when he ran for mayor and would have voted for him if he ran against Bloomberg, but no more.
I am a registered Democrat and I vote in every primary and election. If McMahon votes "No" on healthcare and is a candidate when the next election comes around, I will vote against him in the primary and, if he makes it to the election I'll vote Republican. If we're going to have a Republican in office anyway, we may as well call him a Republican rather than a wolf in sheep's clothing.
a foreign government slaps his president in the face and weiner just wants to shake his head. whose side is he on...
Whether this specific legislation passes or not, couldn't (by reconcialiation) the Democrats follow-up with a simple "Save Medicare Now" act that, to keep Medicare solvent, would open it as an opt-in health insurance program for those under 65 (with an additional fee besides what they already pay in their paystubs), with a simple sliding income scale based on last year's AGI. This would allow small business employees and the self-employed to have the same insurance their parents enjoy. By introducing a younger, healthier pool into the national Medicare program that is paying even more into it than they already do could make Medicare solvent -- and keep it solely as a budgetary (i.e., reconciliation in the Senate) vote.
please explain deem and pass. or is it deamon pass?
