What Cheney is doing now is unprecedented. When has an out-of-office president or vice president criticized a sitting administration in the quantity and in quality? When have we seen such insolent, slanderous and defamatory invective? And when have we seen the main stream media legitimize it by giving it so much air time?
Whoa! RE: last caller's suggestion that the war on terror be based in Saudi Arabia: it's crucial to remember that Bin Laden's stated gripe with the US was the presence of US troops in Saudi Arabia. Insensitivity to realities on the ground can get us into a lot of trouble - and have.
Criticism, even politcally infused, is OK, but pathetic comments like 'Obama thinks if he avoids the phrase 'war on terror' he doesnt think were at war are ignotant and debased. Someone should stopper windbag Cheney. The crushing failures of the administration he served in (ran??)are why Obama has been pressed to accelerate in Afghanistan now - 9 years later. Bush-Cheney had one huge, clearly defined security job: destroy Al Quaeda. And they failed abjectly to ahciveve it.

I think people (maybe the press) need to start endorsing Obama's pluralized (specific, case-to-case) approach to foreign policy.
The alternate was the Bush/Cheney years.
