In the area of tasteless political commercials, check out the "Strong Jersey" commercial accusing Pallone (NJ-District 6 race) of refusing to move legislation on pediatric brain injury promoted by a Patrick Donahue & his organization.
Not one comment addressed the issues that concern New Yorkers and Americans... this is typical reaction from the liberals and leftists... demonize the opposition view and never debate issues...
Every comment was wantonly meanspirited and sophmoric... now who is actually filled with viceral hate for opposition views... pathetic display of people who consider themselves educated...
Jay Townsend is a bit calmer, but just as kooky. Maybe that makes his more dangerous.
Gary Berntsen is just another shrill right wing nut. Please. Why are you polluitng the air waves with Hitler's spiritual heirs?
His comments on building a double wall along the U.S. Mexican border makes me double up with laughter!
Good "tough guy" political talk but totally out of the relm of possibility.
The cost and logistics of building and supporting such a wall alone would be incredible.
Physical walls are old thinking anyway. Technology would allow you to do the same thing.
But, I guess a physical wall is better for votes!
and what about the formally called FREEDOM TOWER
LEAH: RIGHT ON!!! I totally agree. Makes you regret the right to free speech, especially when those who do do not THINK about their stance. Again, it ties back into the earlier point brought up during the tech segment: those on the right create sound bites and use emotion to sway people to their message. They use fear a lot more on the right and anger and outrage to motivate people just enough to get them out in the streets. The fear we have on the left is that the anger and fear on the right works its way into daily life and daily interactions among our citizens.
@ Jerry
He also owns a stake in other publicly traded companies. It doesn't bother me, but I see your point in regarding the narrative.
did i miss something? what does a federal senator have to do with property tax?
The more I hear these republicans the more that I motivated to being involved in helping the democrats win in November. These people are just nutty.
@ Jerry,
It does by their own logic but the MCM is too cowardly and irresponsible to make an issue of that bit of hypocrisy. Only Jon Stewart will talk about it :)
If we get 80 cents for every dollar we pay in taxes, why is that necessarily a bad idea? Isn't point of paying federal taxes is that the money is distributed nationally? So that areas that are less prosperous benefit from the national distribution.
i think schumer is going to win. so lets not worry about who is the conservative or tea parties guy.
How do the candidates feel about Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal who now owns a 7 percent stake in Rupert Murdoch's News Corp? This is a guy whose 9-11 donation was rejected by Rudy Guilliani because he had linked U.S. foreign policy to 9-11 attacks.
Does this make Fox News a terrorist training center?
IT'S A QUESTION OF TASTE? Have you BEEN to a Burlington Coat Factory? Or the "gentleman's club" nearby?
Mr. Berntsen for all his CIA background suggests that we can control our borders??
How does he explain the fact that even with the Berlin enclave, the East Germans & Soviets combined couldn't stop people from escaping with dogs & machine gun watchtowers??
Mr. Berntson is sure to win the Angry White Man
Vote.
The republicans seem to have a platform that has plenty of hatred and fear to share... Hispanic immigrants, gays, Moslems. .. Meanwhile they continue to be fearless deniers of human causes of Global warming.
I think they have their priorities crossed.
Can Tom Vilsack's comments on illegal immigration be used in Shalom Rubashkin's or his manager's - who were charged with employing illegal immigrants - defense? Or does a top administration official's statement mean nothing?
Mr. Bad, I think Berntsen said "double-wide." Not that that makes much more sense.
The palpable anger in Mr. B.'s voice makes him totally unqualified for public office. Scary...
Angry, angry maniac...
"it starts when you're always afraid..."
he's running in the wrong state.
This lunatic (sorry) is a posterboy for why you don't want CIA agents running ANYTHING civil.
They become lost in their worst fantasies.
I don't love Chuckie, but I am so glad he will not be replaced by this fear-mongerer.
Oh, I was incorrect - he also conflates immigration and terrorism. So it's more general xenophobia. Honestly, it tests my commitment to our Constitution to tolerate his right to speak - I am so tired of blatant lying and demogoguery.
Also, reiterating the word "very" doesn't make your point more accurate. Double adverbs impress only the feeble-minded.
Building bridges by putting up fences. Sound very GOP. :)
NYC Islamic Center Gets New Support
The planned mosque and Islamic center several blocks from the World Trade Centre site in New York City is getting a new boost, this time from a coalition of supporters that includes families of 9/11 victims. http://www.newslook.com/videos/244717-nyc-islamic-center-gets-new-support?autoplay=true

and airplanes
Stop the Canadians too!
A double white fence, yeah, that will work. You, sir, are hilarious.
This guy sounds like a maniac
they're coming over in boats now. a fence is obsolete. this guy needs to find some new material.
The Jersey Turnpike is a much bigger draw to terrorists with all its unprotected chemical plants and shipping container yards. That’s what should keep us all up at night….
can we stop calling it a mosque??
Case in point re: republican messages. this guy is the poster child. It's Republicans that should not be allowed to build. Get rid of their convention centers, and headquarters.
How would these candidates recommend someone who is socially way to the left and fiscally way to the right to vote? With no more moderates, what is such a person to do?
I suspect that they'll each say, "Vote for me!", but why? Why should one sacrifice what one views as constitutionally guaranteed civil rights and civil liberties to keep the government from overspending?
Well, he says "nuc-yoo-lar" instead of "noo-clear," so of course he conflates Islam and terrorism. Correlation does not imply causation, of course, but this does seem to be a salient feature of Islamophobes.
How would the candidates have addressed Financial reform? I am torn because on one hand I wanted a much stronger bill, but feared the job losses that may have resulted.
How as U.S. senators would the candidates change/diversify NYC's economy so that it is less dependent on Wall Street?
Also how would the candidates address climate change?
please ask want to be senators and reps to end the corn subsidies. High-fructose corn syrup is cheap enough.
while they are at it stop the red state subsidies. my taxes are too high to keep pouring down a black hole
http://www.taxfoundation.org/UserFiles/Image/Blog/ftsbs-large.jpg
why do so many red states need so much welfare anyway.
