Get To Know Your Neighbor

Tuesday, April 06, 2010

A little voyeurism isn’t necessarily a bad thing. WNYC culture reporter Jennifer Hsu and Samuel Menashe, first living American poet to have his work published by the Library of America, discuss the WNYC Culture department's Know Your Neighbor project.

Are you curious about your neighbors? Do you have a neighbor who you always wanted to know more about but never had a reason to ask? Tell us about them! Comment below!

Angie is a great Brooklyn character, and a true human treasure. When you know who you are and you express that directly and compassionately, you've given the world a great gift.
She did not mention that she is a devoted advocate for the future of Coney Island, and serves each year as"Miss Cyclone"!

Oh, Seth, Seth, Seth.

Spoken like someone who hasn't seen what he's talking about. Go and actually see her perform before you voice an opinion.

by the way, I used to eat at the Automat all the time. It wasn't THAT long ago...

If you are interested in someone in New Jersey, I know of someone who makes beautiful sculpture from discarded objects.

There is a bit nuanced difference between strippers and burlesque performers. But, yes, I suspect you're too much of a prude to understand it. BTW, times change, sorry you not cool enough to keep up.

A burlesque performer! Ha! What year is it?!

My next door neighbor works at the Automat, takes the IRT to work and smokes Lucky Strikes.
Buy War Bonds!

BTW: I think they're called strippers.

I second Vicki Khuzami. She is a truly fascinating and authentic personality. One of the more interesting people you might encounter.

Native NYker, now down in FL for work. Don't ask. I miss NYC and all its cast of characters. Just to play devil's advocate:

"The Bible says 'Love thy neighbor.'"

"That could mean 'leave him alone.'"
