Prevention is the cure for squandering in which David Yassky is quite inept.
In 2007, David Yassky, received a certified letter concerning damage to the city’s infrastructure, in particular, the storm drains by city contractors working in David’s district of Greenpoint.
In July, 2007, Street paving contractors hired by the DOT were seen dumping thousands of tons of hot asphalt into the storm drains simply because they did not take the easy and economical precaution to cover the drains before the paving truck spread the asphalt. The supervisor claimed that the DEP would clean out the drains on the roads being repaved. This response by a supervisor is equally worrisome.
The damage to the storm drains, the cost of wasted asphalt, as well as eventual flooding of city streets and homes, in addition to the manpower to clean the tons of hardened asphalt were grounds for David Yassky to call for an investigation, yet he has never followed-up on the issue and the contractors are still filling the storm drains when they repaved in July, 2009, and not only in Greenpoint.

why cant the city make money by licensing and branding its assets. Instead of Poland spring making money from bottled water why cant Filtered Bottled NYC water system (supposedly the best in the country) water be sold with profits that benefit the city budget?Considering all the money we spend to hydrate ourselves.
Why cant the city get fees from licensing official products and souveneers as well as granting "official providor " status to excellent NYC made products and services to increase the brand and reputation of teh City, and spuring excellance in local business?

Ask Yassky if he plans on bringing post production jobs to NYC. If he wants my vote (and others being left out of all of these proposed production jobs), he'll need to address film & television post production!

blame yassky for creating the "fix is in" scenario in the williamsburg/greenpoint development and re-zoning. he participated in ruining a great area of our city for the benefit of rich develepors that have no business in this neighborhood. big , empty, overpriced ugly berlin type buildings...thanks yassky. hope you spend your graft money well. if you're a corrupt hassidic developer, go to yassky- he'll take care of you.

My friends in NYC say that John is not the brightest bulb available; he seems to be a nice guy who will say and do anything to advance his career. Please ask David how his anti-gun stand holds up now that the US Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the 2nd Amendment being an individual right under the Bill of Rights and Civil War Amendments. Also how much money is David willing to spend to defend NYPD’s unconstitutional gun regs? They are now clearly susceptible to an equal protection and due process challenge. The Federal courts have dismissed approximately 95% of the cases against firearms while most of the challenges against unreasonable regulations are going forward. As Comptroller, one of these guys will already be paying out $50 - $100,000,000.00 annually in suits and settlements against NYPD -- can New Yorkers afford to spend more?
