I know he sounds a bit "out there' at times but if you see him in person, his energy is very genuine and his intellect is superior.

We are a nation of addicts and religious nuts -- to me, a little non imposing/non judging Eastern/spiritual perspective is a welcome addition to our dialogue.

He's right. "Healthcare" in the U.S. is a business. It's about making money first and foremost.

I've been doing yoga for 8 years, and I am currently applying to medical school.

While so-called 'western medicine' is OBVIOUSLY open to critique, saying something like 'the brain does not have a structure, it is a process' is totally fallacious. Sure, there is constant process. But there's more to the science of neuroplasticity than what your guest acknowledged. I am not going to suddenly grow wings- there is structure and process, and it's very complicated. One needs to be careful not to cherry pick from science to feed somewhat predetermined conclusions.

A lot of people think alternative medicine (homeopathy, acupuncture, etc) is nothing more than the placebo effect. But there was an article recently in Wired (and discussed on Leonard's show) about how the placebo effect is getting stronger! Thoughts?

Will you support aggressive noise control aimed at cracking down on Boom Cars and motorcycles without mufflers?
